3D Technical Animation for Engineering Marketing

How we helped Vista Engineering — based in Reykjavik, Iceland — communicate the full scope of their smart city services through a single, low-poly isometric animation featuring real local landmarks.

The brief

Vista Engineering wanted a marketing video that could explain what they do — across water provision, geothermal heating, traffic monitoring, energy conservation, and smart lighting — without a lengthy narration or technical jargon. The animation needed to feel local, incorporating recognisable Reykjavik landmarks to ground the story in their city.

The challenge: communicate multiple simultaneous systems in a single coherent scene, without overwhelming the viewer.

Our approach

We chose a low-poly isometric city build — a style that is clean, readable at a glance, and lends itself to layered animation. By constructing a stylised version of central Reykjavik, we gave Vista’s audience an immediate sense of place, while keeping the visual language simple enough to overlay complex data flows and system interactions.

Why 3D animation works for engineering marketing

Static diagrams and brochures struggle to convey the interconnected nature of modern engineering services. A 3D animation can show multiple systems operating simultaneously — something no single photograph or slide can achieve. For Vista Engineering, the finished video became a flagship sales asset: usable at trade shows, on their website, and in pitch meetings.

Science Design Services creates technical animations specifically for engineering and science clients who need to communicate complex, multi-system solutions to non-technical decision-makers, investors, and the public.
